Used as an acute phase reactant whose level falls in inflammation, malignancy, cirrhosis of the liver, and protein wasting disease of the gut or kidneys. Levels are increased in Hodgkin's disease

Container/Tube:  Lt Green/Mint Top (lithium heparin) tube

Acceptable: Serum

Container/Tube: Plain, Red-top or Gold, serum gel tube

Specimen Volume:  1.0 mL (minimum volume:  0.1 mL)

Collection Instructions: Forward promptly.

Specimen Stability

Refrigerated: 7 days

Frozen: -20 C for 2 months
