Intended Use

Quantitative measurements of serum or plasma alkaline aminotransferase are used in the diagnosis and monitoring treatment in certain disease of the liver, and heart diseases.

Specimen Requirements

Preferred: Plasma (heparinized)

Container/Tube:  Lt Green/Mint top (lithium heparin) tube

Acceptable: Serum

Container/Tube: Plain, Red-top or Gold, serum gel tube

Specimen Volume:  1.0 mL (minimum volume:  0.55 mL)

Collection Instructions: Avoid hemolysis. Forward promptly.

Specimen Stability

Refrigerated: 3 days

Frozen: -20C > 3 days
