Specimen Type: 
Preferred: Serum - Gold-Top SST

Acceptable: Serum - Red Top-Plain or Plasma - Purple Top-EDTA

 

Specimen Minimum Volume:  0.5 mL

 

**LT Green/Mint Top-LiHep is NOT acceptable because heparin interferes with the measurement of SM antibodies.

Specimen Stability

Ambient:  <8 hrs

Refrigerated (preferred): 2 weeks

Frozen: >2 weeks
