Specimen Requirements

Procedure1. Patient does not need to be fasting.
                  2. Administer 50 g dextrose drink.

                  3. Draw specimen 1 hour post-dextrose administration.

Preferred: Plasma

Container/Tube:  Lt Green/Mint top (lithium heparin) tube
Acceptable: Serum
Container/Tube: Plain red-top or gold serum gel tube
Specimen:  1 mL (minimum volume:  0.2 mL)

Collection Instructions:  Forward promtly.

Note:  Label specimen appropriately (corresponding draw time).
