Intended Use
This test is performed as an aid to help diagnose the cause of an abnormal prothromin time (PT). Prothrombin mixing studies differentiate whether the abnormal PT is caused due to a deficiency or an inhibitor affecting the extrinsic coagulation pathway.

Specimen Requirements
Specimen Type: Platelet-poor plasma
Container/Tube: Blue-top (3.2% Sodium Citrate)
Specimen Volume: Send all platelet-poor plasma from TWO blue top (sodium citrate) tubes.
Collection instructions: Completely fill blue tops to the line. Underfilled tubes will not yield accurate results and will be rejected.

Ambient: Test Immediately
Frozen (-70ºC): up to 6 months
