Intended Use

Performed as an aid to help diagnose the cause of an abnormal partial thromboplastin time (PTT). This test differentiate whether the abnormal PTT is caused due to a deficiency or an inhibitor affecting the intrinsic coagulation pathway.

Specimen Requirements

Specimen Type: Platelet-poor plasma
Container/Tube: Blue-top (3.2% Sodium Citrate)

 

Specimen Volume: Send all platelet-poor plasma from TWO blue top (sodium citrate) tubes.
Collection instructions: Completely fill blue tops to the line. Underfilled tubes will not yield accurate results and will be rejected.

Ambient: Test Immediately

Frozen (-70ºC): up to 6 months
