Intended Use

The antibody screen test is used to detect unexpected blood group antibodies.

Specimen Requirements

Specimen Type: Whole blood (EDTA)

 

Container/Tube:  

  • Preferred: Pink-top (EDTA) tube(s)
  • Acceptable: Purple-top (EDTA) tube(s)

 

Specimen Volume:  5 mL (minimum volume: 1 mL) of EDTA whole blood in original tube.

 

Collection Instructions:  Forward promptly. Specimen cannot be frozen.

Note: Specimen must be hand-labeled from patient’s wristband to include patient’s name, date and time of draw, and phlebotomist’s initials. If this is not present on sample, specimen will  be rejected.
