Intended Use

To isolate and identify pathologically significant organisms from normally sterile body fluids.

Specimen Requirements

Specimen Type:
    Body Fluid

Container Type
    Preferred: Screw-capped Sterile Container (1 mL Minimum)
    Acceptable: Isolater tube or Culture Swabs/Eswabs (If less than 1 mL)

Specimen Stability

For internal specimens: 
Ambient: Forward to lab promptly, maintain sterility.

 

For outside sites sending specimen to RCH:

Refrigerated: Forward promptly, maintain sterility.
