Specimen Requirements

Required: Platelet-poor plasma (sodium citrate)

Collection Container/tube: Light blue-top (3.2% sodium citrate) tube

Submission Container/Tube: Plastic vial

Specimen Volume: 1.0 mL (minimum volume 0.5 mL)

Collection Instructions: Spin down, remove plasma and spin plasma again. Plasma should be removed within one hour of collection and tested within four hours from the time of specimen collection. Forward promptly.

Additional Information: Double-centrifuged specimen is critical for accurate results as platelet contamination may cause spurious results.

Specimen Stability

Ambient: 4 hours

Frozen (Preferred): -20°C for 2 weeks
