Used to monitor serum vancomycin concentrations during treatment and to avoid toxicity

Immunoenzymatic Assay

Preferred: Plasma (heparinized)

Container/Tube: Lt Green/Mint top (lithium heparin) tube

Acceptable: Serum

Container/Tube: Plain, Red-top or Gold, serum gel tube

Specimen: 1.0 mL (minimum volume 0.1 mL)

Collection Instructions: Specimen should be drawn 30 minutes before dose. Forward promptly.

Refrigerated: 3 days

Frozen: -20C for 1 month
