Specimen Requirements
Sample Type: Plasma (EDTA)
Container/Tube: Lavender EDTA tube
Specimen Volume: 1.0 mL (minimum volume: 0.55 mL)
Collection Instructions: Collection tube should be completely filled and immediately placed on ice.. Avoid hemolysis. Separate from cells as soon as possible. Forward promptly.
- Labs collecting outside of RCH or SPH: please separate EDTA plasma into aliquot tube with tight lid. Send by courier FROZEN to nearest performing site STAT.
Samples that will exceed 24 hours shipping time, please order the Ammonia Mayo test (requires frozen EDTA plasma processed within 2 hours of collection).
