Specimen Requirements
Submit blood or saliva in collection container supplied in COUNSYL kit
Acceptable: 4 mL blood
Container/tube: Lavender top blood tube supplied in COUNSYL kit
Collection Instructions: No special handing is required. Sample should be shipped within 24 hours of draw.
Acceptable: Saliva
Container: Saliva tube supplied in COUNSYL kit
Specimen Volume: Fill to fill line on container.
Collection Instructions:
- No eating, drinking, smoking, chewing gum, kissing, etc 30 minutes prior to saliva collection.
- Spit into funnel until liquid saliva (not bubbles) reaches the fill line.
- Close the lid until a click releases the liquid from the cap into the saliva sample.
- Unscrew the funnel and use the small cap to seal the container immediately; shake for 5 seconds. If the sample includes bubbles that reach the top of the funnel, let the sample settle to reduce potential spillage before unscrewing the funnel.
- The sample should be shipped within 24 hours.
