SCREENING: Testing is done for the purpose of screening for colorectal cancer in the absence of signs, symptoms, conditions, or complaints associated with gastrointestinal blood loss. CRC screening tests can be ordered following USPSTF guidelines.

Specimen Requirements

1 g of stool in a screw-capped, sterile container. Specimen should not be collected during menstruation, hemorrhoidal bleeding, or if hematuria is present.

Specimen may also be sent to laboratory in the kit sampling bottle, which has an extended specimen stability. (see below)
