Specimen Requirements

Preferred: Serum

Container/Tube:  Plain, Red-top or Gold, serum tube

 

Acceptable: Plasma (heparinized)

Container/Tube: Lt Green/Mint top (lithium heparin) tube

 

Specimen Volume:  1.0 mL (minimum Volume 0.1 mL)

 

Collection Instructions:  Recommended 8-12 hour fast (not required). Avoid hemolysis and lipemia. Forward promptly.

Specimen Stability

Refrigerated (preferred): 3 days

Frozen (< -20C): > 3 days
