Specimen Requirements

Required: Plasma (sodium citrate)

Specimen Volume:   1.0 mL platelet poor plasma (minimum volume 0.3 mL)

Collection Instructions: Forward promptly. If transport time will exceed 4 hours, send platelet-poor plasma frozen at -20C or less. Completely fill the Blue Top (sodium citrate) tube. Underfilled tubes will not be accepted. Mix sample immediately by gentle inversion at least six times.

 

Specimen Stability

Ambient: 4 hours

Frozen: -20C  for 6 months or -70C for 6 months
