Test Code LAB896 Fetal-Maternal Hemorrhage Screening Test (Fetal Screen)

Important Note

The maternal blood should be collected after the delivery of all products of conception, prior to the administration of therapeutic anti-D (Rhogam).

Intended Use

Used for the screening of pregnant mothers suspect of fetal/maternal bleed. Rh immunization in pregnancy most commonly results from the fact that at delivery a variable amount of fetal blood enters the maternal circulation when the placenta separates from the uterine wall. This may result in the production of allo-anti-D by the mother if the fetal cells are Rh positive and the mother is Rh negative.
