Intended Use

The FilmArray® Respiratory Panel is a multiplexed nucleic acid test capable of simultaneous qualitative detection and identification of multiple respiratory viral and bacterial nucleic acids in nasopharyngeal swabs (NPS) obtained from individuals suspected of respiratory tract infections.

Results are meant to be used in conjunction with other clinical, laboratory, and epidemiological information. The results of this test should not be used as the sole basis for diagnosis, treatment, or other patient management decisions.

Specimen Requirements

Specimen Required:

300 μL of sample is required for testing

 

Sample type:  Submit nasopharyngeal swab in viral transport media (VTM), bronch wash, or bronchiolar lavage in a screw- capped, sterile container.

Container:  Sterile container, VTM swab

Transport temperature: Room temperature (18-30°C) for up to 4 hours or refrigerated (2-8°C) up to 3 days or frozen (<-15°C) for up to 30 days

Collection Instructions:  Should be collected according to standard technique. Label with Sample ID and sent to the laboratory
