Specimen Requirements

Required: Lithium heparin whole blood.  Do not Spin.

Container/Tube:  Light green/Mint top (lithium heparin) tube

Specimen Volume:  1 mL (minimum volume:  0.2 mL) of lithium heparin whole blood. 

Transport Temperature:  Ambient

Collection Instructions:  Prior to sending the specimen, call 755-0070 to reach the Vocera paging system.  Once prompted, ask to speak to the "Respiratory Clinical Specialist" to let them know they should be expecting a sample.  Deliver the sample to the RCRH Laboratory. Avoid exposure of specimen to atmosphere.
